Troy (2004)

It is the year 1250 B.C. during the late Bronze age. Two emerging nations begin to clash after Paris, the Trojan prince, convinces Helen, Queen of Sparta, to leave her husband Menelaus, and sail with him back to Troy. After Menelaus finds out that his wife was taken by the Trojans, he asks his brother Agamemnom to help him get her back. Agamemnon sees this as an opportunity for power. So they set off with 1,000 ships holding 50,000 Greeks to Troy. With the help of Achilles, the Greeks are able to fight the never before defeated Trojans. But they come to a stop by Hector, Prince of Troy. The whole movie shows their battle struggles, and the foreshadowing of fate in this remake by Wolfgang Petersen of Homer’s “The Iliad”.

She gets a job as a lap dancer at the seedy Cheetah Club but after a chance meeting with Cristal Connors, the star of Goddess, the current show at the hotel where Molly works, Nomi manages to secure an audition for a spot on the chorus line.However she soon realises that fame comes with a price as her friendships, her morals and her soul are put to the test as she works her way up the ladder and eventually becomes the star of the show, stealing Cristal’s part. She begins to wonder if all of her work was for nothing and if she can reclaim her life back before it is too late.

Poseidon (2006)

The stories of several people unfold on a magnificent ship, Poseidon. Jennifer Ramsey (Rossum), the daughter of a patronizing former New York mayor (Russell), and her fiancÃ© Christian (Vogel) are finding it difficult to tell her father that they’re engaged. A single mother (Barrett) and her son Conor (Bennett) run in (literally) to Dylan (Lucas), a professional gambler and hit it off right away. Elena (Maestro) has agreed to be a steward (Rodriguez)’s entertainment for the cruise if he takes her to New York to see her injured brother. Architect Richard Nelson (Dreyfuss) is drinking himself into a stupor after his boyfriend ditched him. When a rogue wave hits and the ship overturns, the captain (Braugher) tells the surviving passengers that the ballroom is an air bubble and that they will be safe until help arrives. Dylan isn’t so sure and sets off to look for an avenue of escape. Conor asks Dylan to take he and his mother. Richard knows that the boat cannot stay afloat upside down. Ramsey insists on going with to find his daughter in the nightclub. The five people take the steward Marco to help them find their way to the bottom/top. In the nightclub, most are dead after being electrocuted by the numerous lights. Survivors are Jennifer, Elena, Lucky Larry (Dillon) and Christian, who is caught under a light. The two groups of adventurers converge and have to fight fire, electricity, tight spaces, elevator shafts and most of all, water.
